Restore Your Smile With Dental Implants
posted: Dec. 20, 2019.
Dental implants provide an excellent, long-term restoration option if tooth loss has changed your smile. If you've been thinking about filling the gaps in your smile, Dr. Saman Saghafi here at Smiles To Remember in Woodinville, WA, can help you decide if implants are a good choice for you.
Dental implants replace missing roots
Your tooth roots play a crucial role in the strength and stability of your teeth. Strong roots make it possible to chew hard foods, such as nuts and raw vegetables, or rip apart the fibers in a juicy steak or piece of chicken. Your tooth roots also exert constant pressure on your jawbone, providing the stimulation that it needs to remain strong.
Dental implants are the only restoration option that replaces both the crowns (top) and roots (bottom) of missing teeth. The implant process starts when small titanium posts that will serve as substitute roots are implanted in your jawbone during minor oral surgery. During the subsequent three to six months after the procedure, the implants will become surrounded by bone and will eventually bond to your jawbone.
As soon as your posts are securely attached to your jawbone, you'll begin the next phase of the process. Your Woodinville dentist will attach abutments to the top of the implants and make an impression of your mouth that will be used to create your custom crowns. When your new crowns are ready, he'll attach them to the tops of the abutments, completing the restoration of your teeth.

Dental implants may be a good choice for you if:
